Thai police reported on Wednesday that "about 20 people were killed in an explosion at a fireworks factory north of Bangkok." The cause of the incident, which occurred in the afternoon in Suphan Buri province approximately 120 kilometers north of Bangkok, is not yet clear. The explosion took place around 15:00 (08:00 GMT) near the town of Sala Khao in Suphanburi Province. Thailand frequently experiences explosions at facilities producing fireworks and firecrackers. Channel 3 reported that an explosion has killed 18 people at a fireworks factory in Sala Khao, Suphanburi Province, and officials are currently investigating the cause. There was reportedly another explosion at the same factory at the end of 2022.
