The White House confirmed today that negotiations aimed at reaching a new agreement with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) concerning the release of hostages in Gaza are constructive, but there is still much work to be done. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters that Washington is seeking to establish a humanitarian truce long enough to facilitate the release of a significant number of hostages. Kirby described the statements made by some Israeli politicians about resettling Gaza as reckless and inciting. Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir had urged Jewish settlers to return to Gaza at a large rally held yesterday, prompting Palestinians to denounce these remarks, claiming they amount to calls for their forced relocation.
