US Base in Eastern Syria Shelled; Coalition Responds

Syrian sources reported that a rocket barrage targeted the "Koniko" gas field, the most prominent US base in Eastern Syria, today (Thursday). Iraqi armed factions claimed responsibility for the attack on the US base. In retaliation, the international coalition targeted positions of armed groups affiliated with the "Iranian Revolutionary Guard" in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, according to the Syrian Observatory. Sources in Deir ez-Zor province informed the German news agency that several rockets landed within the "Koniko" gas field, with some falling in its vicinity. They confirmed that US forces and the "Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)" declared a state of alert on the roads leading to the field from the city of Al-Basira and the main "Koniko - Deir ez-Zor" road. US bases in northeastern Syria, controlled by SDF forces, have been subjected to daily attacks using rockets and drones since Israel declared war on Gaza. There are 9 US bases in Syria: one in the Al-Tanf area in eastern Homs, two in Deir ez-Zor countryside, and six bases in Hasaka province.
