White House: We No Longer Have Funds to Support Ukraine

John Kirby, the coordinator for strategic communications at the U.S. National Security Council, indicated that "Washington no longer has enough funds to continue supporting Ukraine, and new assistance requires Congressional approval." During a press conference, Kirby stated, "The president signed the last package for which we had funding, and that was it. We need Congressional approval to allocate additional funds to support Ukraine." Kirby noted that "the latest aid package signed by President Joe Biden on December 27 has not yet been fully delivered to Ukraine, and its completion will take weeks." U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated at the end of 2023 that the United States would provide an additional $250 million to arm Kyiv, urging Congress to act as soon as possible.
