The population in Iraq surpassed 43 million by the end of 2023. In a statement, Iraqi Planning Ministry spokesperson Abd al-Zahra al-Hindawi explained that "the number reached 43 million and 324 thousand, with a large percentage of those under 15 years old, accounting for 41%, while the percentage of the urban population is 69.9% and the percentage of the rural population is 30.1%."
