Iraqi News Agency reported today, Tuesday, that Shell has withdrawn from talks with Iraq to build a petrochemical plant in Basra, southern Iraq. A spokesperson for Shell stated that the company has decided not to proceed with the Nebras petrochemical project in southern Iraq. The spokesperson said in a statement: "After thorough evaluation of the feasibility of the integrated Nebras petrochemical complex with our government partners, Shell has decided not to move forward with the project." He added: "This decision aligns with Shell's focus on performance, discipline, and simplification, and on the high ranking of our chemicals portfolio."
