The commander of the Sudanese army, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Burhan, dismissed Central Bank Governor Hussein Yahya Jingul from his duties today, Sunday, according to Burhan's office in a statement. Burhan appointed Barai Al-Siddiq Ahmed, one of Jingul's deputies, as the new governor of the bank.
Burhan issued a decision to freeze the bank accounts of the Rapid Support Forces and their affiliated companies. The statement from Burhan's office added that the decision called for "preventing the disbursement of any entitlements or budgets allocated to them," and directed the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the Bank of Sudan to implement the decision.
