The United Nations Human Rights Office stated today, Friday, that "Israel has repeatedly failed to respect international humanitarian law since launching its attack on Gaza in response to a cross-border attack by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7." UN Human Rights Commission spokesperson Elizabeth Throssell said, "We have repeatedly highlighted Israel's recurring failures to respect the basic principles of international humanitarian law: distinction, proportionality, and taking precautions when conducting attacks." She added, "The High Commissioner emphasized that violations of these obligations could lead to accountability for war crimes, and warned of the risks of other heinous crimes."
