Swedish police reported today, Saturday, that "a large section of highway in southwestern Sweden collapsed overnight, resulting in three people being hospitalized with minor injuries." The rescue service in Gothenburg noted: "The landslide affected an area of approximately 100 meters by 150 meters, impacting about ten vehicles, an area with trees, a business area, a gas station, and a fast-food restaurant." They added: "Firefighters and a helicopter assisted in rescuing several individuals from their vehicles in the landslide area."
The Swedish news agency "TT" mentioned that several cars and a truck fell into holes and cracks caused by the landslide. The landslide damaged the highway, which connects the city of Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city, to Oslo, the capital of Norway, and occurred near the small town of Stenungsund, about 50 kilometers north of Gothenburg on Sweden's west coast.
