Japan is witnessing heavy snowfall today, Wednesday, with accumulations increasing by 10 cm every hour in certain areas. The snowstorm has caused long traffic jams on highways. The weather agency has warned that the quake-hit Noto Peninsula and other regions facing the Sea of Japan will experience heavy snow until Thursday. Japanese media reported that approximately 80 cm of snow is expected across the country in just one day, adding that snowfall will continue until January 25. Video footage from NHK has shown snow falling on Fukuchiyama Castle in Kyoto Prefecture, with many parts of Japan experiencing heavy snow today (excluding the Tokyo area).
