Minister of Environment: We will continue working in Sidon to develop the waste management system

Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassin, indicated that he "communicated this morning with the Mayor of Sidon, Hazem Bdeih, to follow up on the implementation of the waste management plan for Sidon city and surrounding areas, which was developed in collaboration with the municipality and civil society within the strategic directions set by the Ministry of Environment to reform the solid waste sector." He added: "Mayor Bdeih informed me that the company 'City Blue' began working this morning on waste collection and distributing new containers in the neighborhoods of Sidon and its outskirts in accordance with the recent Cabinet decision." Yassin continued: "We will continue working with the mayor and active bodies in the city to develop the waste system, including enhancing source separation and activating the waste treatment plant in Sidon, which received a warning from the municipality to carry out necessary repairs to improve the plant's performance as set by the Ministry of Environment, as well as forming a joint committee between the municipality and civil society to monitor and follow up on the implementation of the reforms."
