Lebanese Interior Ministry Appoints Woman as Governor of Nabatieh

Interior and Municipalities Minister in the caretaker government, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, issued a memo appointing Houda Mustafa al-Turk as the governor of Nabatieh. The decision stated: "Since Mr. Hassan Mahmoud Fakih - the appointed governor of Nabatieh is retiring on July 20 due to reaching the legal age, and based on the requirements and proper functioning of the administrative work in the Nabatieh governorate, Ms. Houda Mustafa al-Turk - part of the South Lebanon governorate is tasked with the duties of the Governor of Nabatieh to fill the vacant position according to the regulations.” Al-Turk holds a doctorate in sociology and human resources management, was born in Sidon in 1971, began teaching at the Institute of Social Sciences - Lebanese University in 2009, and was promoted to the rank of professor in 2017. She was appointed director of the Institute of Social Sciences - branch five at the Lebanese University starting in 2022.
