The U.S. Air Force unit stationed in South Korea reported that an American F-16 fighter jet crashed in South Korea on Monday during a routine training flight. The pilot was rescued after ejecting from the aircraft due to experiencing an "in-flight emergency." The 8th Fighter Wing of the U.S. Air Force stated in a release that the South Korean Coast Guard rescued the pilot in the Yellow Sea, and he has returned to Kunsan Air Base. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the emergency. The statement mentioned that the unit commander, Colonel Matthew Gaitke, expressed gratitude for the pilot's rescue and confirmed that he is in good condition. Kunsan Air Base, located in the city of Kunsan on the western coast of South Korea, is one of the main air bases used by the U.S. military in the country.
