UN Expects More Displacement Due to Conflict in Gaza

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, revealed today, Wednesday, that he expects more displacement in the Middle East due to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement (Hamas), which has led to 85 percent of Gaza's population being internally displaced. He added during the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva: "The events that occurred in Israel and Gaza since October 7 exceed the jurisdiction of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. However, it is unfortunate that we expect civilians to face more casualties and suffering, as well as further displacement that threatens the region."
