U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that four Nigerians were killed in an attack on a convoy of two U.S. government vehicles in Nigeria yesterday, Tuesday, clarifying that the attack was not aimed at the U.S. mission there. Blinken stated in a press release today, Wednesday, that the U.S. mission and their Nigerian counterparts are working to ascertain the whereabouts and condition of the missing individuals, noting that the convoy included a total of nine Nigerians. He condemned the attack in Anambra state on the convoy, which was carrying employees of the U.S. Mission to Nigeria and members of the Nigeria Police Force, emphasizing the value of the relationship with locally employed staff and the partnership with Nigeria.
