Geologist Tony Nimer wrote on his account on the platform "X": "I receive many calls and inquiries about the seismic situation in our region in general and in Lebanon in particular. Here are some answers." He added: "The two earthquakes in southern Turkey last night, measuring 5 and 4.4 degrees, are aftershocks from the earthquakes of February 6, 2023. It is not unlikely that these tremors will continue for a long time, exceeding the first anniversary of the two earthquakes." He continued: "The stormy weather, lightning, thunder, strong winds, and heavy rain have no relation to the occurrence of earthquakes at all. The ongoing shelling in southern Lebanon, given its current pace and temporal and spatial distribution, does not affect the occurrence of earthquakes, nor does the barbaric shelling in Gaza impact the movement of the Dead Sea Fault."
