Video: Death Claims Greek Rescue Team in Libya

The Minister of Health in the Eastern Libyan Government, Osman Abdul Jalil, announced on Sunday that four members of a Greek rescue team died in a traffic accident in Libya. The minister stated in a press conference broadcast on television that the "horrific" accident also resulted in 15 injuries, seven of whom are in critical condition.

The Greek armed forces reported that a bus carrying medical personnel collided with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, but they did not confirm any fatalities. They added in a statement, "An investigation into the causes and circumstances of the accident is underway in cooperation with Libyan authorities, while a process to collect individuals in Benghazi and return them to their homeland has begun."

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet been reached for comment on the Libyan minister's statement regarding the deaths of the four Greeks. A diplomatic source mentioned that the Greek rescue team consists of 16 members, along with three translators.
