U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned of the precarious situation in the Middle East, urging Iran to stop supplying weapons to the Houthis. He stated that the current time represents a dangerous moment in the region, but Washington will work to prevent the escalation of the conflict. Austin reiterated that the United States would respond at multiple levels to the attack on its forces in Jordan, which resulted in the deaths of American soldiers. He noted that he does not foresee a comprehensive conflict between Hezbollah and Israel; however, he emphasized that "it is time to eliminate the capabilities of the terrorist groups that targeted our forces in Jordan." He confirmed that "the resistance axis executed the deadly attack in Jordan, and it is unclear how much Iran knew about it, but they are training and funding these groups." He remarked that "recent developments do not push America to consider withdrawing its forces from Iraq and Syria."
