Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that "electricity has been cut off from about 400 towns in Ukraine due to bad weather." He clarified in his daily message: "A large part of our country's territory is experiencing extremely difficult weather conditions." He added that "our engineers will restore power supplies as soon as possible," while Ukraine is facing low temperatures and snowstorms in some regions. The National Energy Company "Ukrenergo" has been discussing a "difficult" situation for the power grid since Thursday due to increased consumption linked to falling temperatures. The company had to resort to "emergency assistance" on Wednesday by importing electricity from Romania, Slovakia, and Poland.
