U.S. Embassy Calls on Syrian Democratic Forces and Deir Ezzor Tribes to Stop Violence

The U.S. Embassy in Syria announced that a meeting between U.S. officials and leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and tribal chiefs from Deir Ezzor emphasized the need to de-escalate violence as quickly as possible. The U.S. Embassy’s account on X platform stated that Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Ethan Goldrich and the commander of Operation Inherent Resolve to combat ISIS in northeastern Syria, Joel Vowell, agreed with the SDF, the Syrian Democratic Council, and tribal leaders from Deir Ezzor on the necessity to curb violence.

The embassy added that the meeting highlighted the risks of external intervention in Deir Ezzor and stressed the importance of preventing civilian casualties. The officials reiterated, according to the tweet, "the importance of the strong U.S. partnership with the Syrian Democratic Forces in efforts to defeat ISIS."
