Member of the Parliamentary Health Committee, MP Abdul Rahman Al-Bizri, revealed that there is no issue of a "cholera" epidemic in Lebanon, as there is no epidemic spread, and epidemiological surveillance is in place.
In a radio interview, he stated, "There is currently no danger of an epidemic spread, and measures are being taken in areas with high density, such as in areas where displaced individuals are concentrated, but the risk will remain serious especially since cholera exists in the region."
Al-Bizri pointed out that "epidemiological surveillance is in place and is being handled seriously, but there is a difference between announcing cases daily and monitoring them."
He confirmed that the regular "cholera" vaccine is not currently being offered, as there is no permanent cholera threat, and it will be administered to those traveling to countries with an outbreak of the disease. He noted that temporary protection is being provided for those in refugee areas or around them, and the vaccine has served its purpose in the past period.
Al-Bizri added, "Prevention is key, and global medical history has only progressed with the provision of a good health infrastructure, such as access to safe drinking water."
He explained that "chlorine" is a helpful substance, but there are specific usage methods that must be followed when using it.
