Channel 12 from the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported today, Wednesday, that "unknown interferences are disrupting aircraft landings in Israel on their designated routes, forcing them to search for alternative paths over the past few months." In its investigation, it noted that "the Airports Authority acknowledged the existence of unknown factors that are affecting navigation systems, impacting the landing of aircraft arriving at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv." Israeli authorities are investigating the possibility that this disruption is due to electronic warfare systems from Russia operating in Syria and the eastern Mediterranean. The same channel stated that "the authorities that have acknowledged the problem are making efforts to resolve it." For its part, the Airports Authority stated: "In recent months, the State of Israel has experienced continuous interference in the global positioning system, possibly from factors outside the State of Israel; these interferences almost completely prevent the ability to execute landing procedures."
