As the debate continues and research varies regarding the best time of day to exercise, a new study has revealed that the time a person chooses to work out may impact weight loss, indicating that morning workouts are the most beneficial. The recent study utilized results from a previous national survey involving over 5,000 individuals between 2003 and 2006. Researchers noted a "strong correlation" between exercise and reduced obesity in the group that exercised in the morning, according to CBS News.
The study found that morning exercisers also had the lowest body mass index. The "morning group" consisted of a higher percentage of women compared to men and consumed fewer calories. Dr. Sue Dickoutis, a weight loss specialist, told the American network, "The best exercise is anything you can do." She added, "What I always advise people is to work out when they can." She further stated, "If it’s easier and more convenient for you to go to the gym in the morning, do that." The doctor emphasized that if one cannot do it in the morning, then it should be done in the afternoon.
