He stated, "The world today is not peaceful, and harassment and intimidation cause serious harm. China, as a responsible major power, adheres to the principle of justice and defends it. We strongly oppose hegemony and the policy of power, as well as the monopoly of a minority of countries over international affairs." He emphasized that "China demands increased representation of developing countries in the international system and calls for the abolition of all unilateral and illegal sanctions."
