Today, Wednesday, in the second presidential palace in Ain al-Tineh, the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri received the Minister of Education and Higher Education in the caretaker government, Abbas Al-Halabi. They discussed the general situation and educational matters, particularly the advance approved by the Council of Ministers for the benefit of educational bodies in public schools, and how to provide the components necessary for the start of the new academic year.
After the meeting, Minister Al-Halabi stated: "We discussed the upcoming academic year in public schools and at the Lebanese University as well as the challenges facing the start of this year. I informed the President that I toured the exceptional session at the examination centers today, and on this occasion, I extend my thanks to the educational body, teachers, and everyone involved in this session. I commend them for always responding to the call to fulfill educational obligations."
He added, "I also discussed the issue of disbursing the advance approved by the Council of Ministers for the benefit of educational bodies in public schools and how to accomplish this in a way that provides the necessary means for the start of the academic year. We contacted the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Wassim Mansouri, whom I will visit in the next two days."
Berri also received the head of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, Claude Karam, and several members of the commission.
