The esteemed artist Majida El Roumi responded to the backlash she faced from social media users after her speech at her recent concert in Abu Dhabi regarding the suffering of the Lebanese people. Majida El Roumi shared a video clip from the concert on her "X" account and commented: "Our country is still beautiful... it is still a paradise, and it will remain so, no matter what they do to us, and how they wrong us... rest assured that the final word belongs to God... Lebanon has a God."
In her speech at the Abu Dhabi concert, El Roumi praised the rapid development and civilization achieved by the United Arab Emirates, contrasting it with the severe suffering experienced by the Lebanese people due to the actions of what she referred to as criminals. She stated, "We miss beautiful Abu Dhabi, where everything makes us smile and welcomes us with its construction and greenery that glorifies God and enlarges the heart. May God sustain it in this kind and blessed land."
She added, "We come from Lebanon, where we live our worst nightmares due to the crimes committed against us by those who are named among us but are not like us. We can only pause before the achievements we see as we walk in this beloved country, we see with our eyes how the greats create paradise on earth."
Some social media users considered Majida El Roumi's words to be inappropriate, arguing that she should speak about the beautiful image of Lebanon abroad, while others believed that she is addressing a reality known to everyone and that no one can question Majida El Roumi's patriotism.
