French Security Delegation in Tel Aviv to Discuss "Truce" with "Hezbollah"

French Security Delegation in Tel Aviv to Discuss

A French security delegation is expected to arrive in Israel this week to discuss the security deterioration along the Lebanese-Israeli border. This comes after senior French officials, including President Emmanuel Macron and the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs, as well as Macron's personal representative, former Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, conveyed direct warnings to Beirut about an “open conflict” with Israel. According to Lebanese sources, Western pressures focus not only on halting the "skirmishes" between Israel and "Hezbollah" but also emphasize the necessity of adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The West seeks to implement paragraph eight of this resolution, which calls for the withdrawal of weapons and fighters from the area extending from the Lebanese-Israeli border to the Litani River.

The party has launched a campaign through its media outlets against France, accusing it of pushing to implement an “Israeli agenda,” one aspect of which involves making changes to the international resolution to enforce its implementation. For its part, sources in Tel Aviv indicated that the French delegation will discuss with Israeli officials stopping the rocket exchanges with "Hezbollah" and preventing the situation from escalating into a full-blown war. The sources add that the French delegation is arriving with the consent of both parties and the knowledge of the Lebanese government, which would be the official entity in the truce if it occurs.
