Ambrey: Gunmen Board Oil Tanker Near Oman

The British maritime security company Ambrey stated in a memo that four or five armed individuals boarded an oil tanker east of Sohar in Oman on Thursday. The memo noted that the tanker had previously been accused of carrying Iranian oil under sanctions and seized by the United States. Ambrey mentioned that the Marshall Islands-flagged crude oil tanker was sailing towards Bandar Jask in Iran. A spokesperson for Empire Navigation indicated that the company lost contact with a ship that was traveling near Sohar heading to a Turkish port, explaining that the crew consisted of 19 members, one Greek and 18 Filipinos. He mentioned that the vessel was carrying a cargo of 145,000 tons of oil loaded in Basra, Iraq, and added that the company had activated an emergency plan to notify all relevant authorities.
