Drian Receives Sharia Judges: There is No Nation Without Justice and an Independent Judiciary

The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Drian, received the Sharia judges in Lebanon at the Dar al-Fatwa, headed by Chief of the Sunni Sharia Courts, Sheikh Mohammad Asaf, who briefed him on the operations of the Sharia courts across all Lebanese regions and the role judges play in maintaining the family and its role in protecting society. Mufti Drian praised "the performance and efforts of the Sharia judges in achieving justice and fortifying the family and community." He urged the judicial body in Lebanon to "double its efforts to resolve all pending cases, which requires the state and its institutions to give special attention to the judicial body in Lebanon that citizens need to establish a strong and just state for the pursuit of rights and a dignified life." Mufti Drian stated, "There is no nation without justice and an independent judiciary, and there is no justice and independent judiciary without a nation." He added, "The revival of state institutions and their development can only be achieved if the judicial body is in good condition, to keep Lebanon stable and a land of goodness and creativity."
