A Turkish diplomatic source indicated today, Wednesday, that "Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told his American counterpart Antony Blinken in a phone call that Turkey expects the United States to act in accordance with NATO and fulfill its promise to sell F-16 aircraft to Ankara." The source added, "This call came at the request of the American side after a Turkish parliamentary committee approved Sweden's request to join NATO. To ratify the request, it must be approved by the parliament in a full session." Fidan clarified that regarding the sale of F-16s, "we expect the U.S. administration and Congress to act in line with the spirit of the alliance and honor the promises made."
