Russia Deports Dozens of Foreigners Arrested at the Finland Border

Judicial rulings have been issued in the Murmansk region of northwestern Russia for the deportation of 27 foreigners from Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan, and Kenya, who violated immigration laws in Russia. The court's decision stated: "The detainees were subjected to administrative penalties under the residence law in Russia, as it was established that they had no right to reside on Russian territory, and each was fined 2,000 rubles and ordered to be deported."

The Finnish government announced that it would completely close its borders with Russia to travelers in the coming two weeks in an effort to halt the flow of asylum seekers into the country. The violators were arrested in the town of Kandalaksha at the border with Finland, where approximately 400 foreign nationals from Asia and Africa attempted to cross the border into Finland last week. Finland has closed its border with Russia since November 24 to prevent their entry. Russian authorities have accused of "facilitating the sending of migrants to its territory to exacerbate the migration crisis in the European Union," which Russia denies, asserting that it is a "continuation of the misinformation campaign orchestrated by the West against it."
