The British government stated that "these new sanctions are related to 'hostile acts and violence against Palestinians' in the West Bank." The measures impose strict financial restrictions and travel bans on the four individuals, who the UK claims are involved in "atrocious human rights violations."
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that "extreme Israeli settlers threaten Palestinians, often under armed threat, forcing them to leave their legally owned lands." He emphasized that "this behavior is unlawful and unacceptable. Israel must also take stronger actions and put an end to settler violence," noting that "often we see commitments made, but they are not enforced.”
