Member of the "Strong Lebanon" bloc, Deputy Salim Aoun, confirmed that the "Free Patriotic Movement" is waiting for the final wording of the decree extending security leaders, which will be published in the official gazette, as changes in the phrasing might occur. Afterward, the bloc will move to sign the appeal that will be submitted to the Constitutional Council. Aoun stated in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that the wording cannot be free of loopholes, as there are clear and known issues, such as a lack of inclusivity. He emphasized that the articles of the appeal are very important and essential, and if politics does not interfere with the Constitutional Council, the appeal will undoubtedly succeed.
Regarding the possibility of the Minister of Defense proposing names for the Chief of Staff and filling military vacancies, Aoun explained that the minister's authority is clear and he insists on it, having sent letters to the Prime Minister. The minister always performs his duties by sending decrees and leaves room for signing by 24 ministers, as the Council of Ministers assumes the powers of the President rather than the Prime Minister. Aoun noted that the "Movement" will proceed with any decision in the Council of Ministers if the decree is signed by 24 ministers, meaning that the President's authority is transferred to the Council of Ministers as a whole in this situation.
