The Hebrew newspaper "Ma'ariv" reported on the northern border with Lebanon: "A gate has been placed at the entrance of Kiryat Shmona; when you pass through it, you enter another world. Behind the gate lies a ghost town, empty of people, closed, with only one grocery store open. It feels very much like crossing 'Fatima's Gate' back in the days we were in the security zone in southern Lebanon, except that the security strip now lies in northern 'Israel'." The newspaper added: "Our northern border with Lebanon has shrunk a few kilometers to the south, now extending between the 'Kaziv' River in the west and 'Goma Junction' in the east, with a real security area behind it, just like in Lebanon during the security zone era."
