In Commemoration of August 4: Beirut Governor Calls for

On the anniversary of the Beirut port explosion tragedy, the Beirut Municipality issued a statement saying: "In accordance with memorandum No. 2023/20 issued by the Prime Minister on 07/25/2023 regarding the closure of public administrations, public institutions, and municipalities, on Friday, August 4, 2023." The Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, requested the firefighters to "lower the flags in the city of Beirut," and hopes that the honorable citizens will "observe a moment of silence for the souls of the martyrs at the time of the explosion." The governor also urged "owners and investors of tourism establishments (restaurants, cafes, nightclubs, bars) not to hold loud parties and to replace their programs with those appropriate for this painful anniversary in solidarity with the families of the martyrs and the injured." He concluded: "We ask God to protect our city of Beirut and our beloved country Lebanon."
