Kremlin Denies Report on Wagner Supplying Defense Systems to Hezbollah

The Kremlin denied today, Friday, a report from the Wall Street Journal that stated the United States has intelligence information indicating that the Russian private military group Wagner intends to supply Hezbollah with air defense equipment. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Wagner "in fact no longer exists, and therefore such claims are baseless." He added, "There are emergency communication channels between the Russian and American armies, and if there are genuine concerns about something, they (the Americans) can always communicate it to our military."

The newspaper reported that Wagner intends to equip Hezbollah with the "Pantsir-S1" system, known to NATO as "SA-22," which uses anti-aircraft missiles and air defense weapons to intercept aircraft. The newspaper cited an unnamed American official stating that Washington has not confirmed that the system has indeed been sent. However, it added that American officials are monitoring discussions between Wagner and Hezbollah.
