UK: Dozens Rescued After Flooding in the Thames River Channel

London Fire Brigade managed to rescue 50 people after heavy rains in the British capital caused flooding in one of the Thames River channels, inundating a party boat. The fire brigade stated that they were called to Hackney Wick after the channel overflowed, flooding approximately 10 acres and submerging the Bar & Co party boat, which features a floating bar, restaurant, and nightclub. A spokesperson mentioned that firefighters conducted checks on about 100 people who were able to stay in their homes, but 50 of them were evacuated to safety. Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters were dispatched to tackle the flooding between Dace Road and Wick Lane. The Port of London Authority advised vessels to navigate the Temple Pier "with extreme caution," and a vessel from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, as well as boats from the metropolitan police and London Fire Brigade, were sent to the scene.
