A dog has caused panic in an Egyptian village after injuring 19 people, including children, the elderly, and women, with some sustaining serious injuries. The horrific incident occurred in the village of Al-Khattara, part of the Qena governorate in southern Egypt, where a rabid stray dog bit 19 individuals, leading to failed attempts by locals to catch or eliminate it.
Authorities received reports of the 19 people being bitten by the rabid dog, prompting immediate dispatch of ambulances to the scene. The injured were transported to hospitals, where it was revealed that they sustained severe injuries and deep wounds all over their bodies. A medical source indicated that the ages of the injured ranged from 8 to 60 years.
In response, authorities decided to search for the stray dog and initiated large-scale campaigns to eradicate stray dogs in the vicinity of the city and surrounding villages. Additionally, directions were given to provide the necessary vaccine to treat the injured and cater to the needs of any new victims until the stray dog issue in the area is resolved.
