Dubai Police Arrest Cyber Fraud Gang

Dubai Police have arrested several individuals of African nationalities who deceived people and extorted large sums of money from them by claiming they had inherited money from relatives residing in Dubai. The fraudsters convinced their victims to pay certain fees in order to receive the inheritance. Brigadier Saeed Al-Hajri, Director of the Cyber Crime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation and Police, revealed that the fraud victims contacted them through the “E-Crime” platform. An immediate task force was formed from cyber crime officers who were able to identify the suspects. He pointed out that the platform launched by Dubai Police for reporting cyber crimes has helped in combating numerous fraudsters, especially after several individuals submitted highly significant observations, complaints, and reports that contributed to the arrest of cyber criminals.
