The Tobacco and Regie Administration has started receiving tobacco crops from farmers in the south at its center in Kfar Rumman, in the presence of Deputy Head of the General Labor Union, Hassan Fakih. He stated, "Based on the communications we had with the Rejiy administration, we have advanced the date for collecting the crop this year due to the security situation in the south following Israeli aggression. This will take place at three centers, which are the back areas of tension, in Siddiqin and Sarifa in Nabatieh. In two days, our citizens in Aitaroun, which is experiencing escalated Israeli actions, will have the opportunity to deliver their crops."
He added, "Some farmers are forced to leave their homes in border areas, and the Rejiy administration has responded to our requests. The purchase of crops will be in dollars, which is a significant step forward." The administration emphasized that "the tobacco seedling must be preserved, as it has been a symbol of resilience in the south during the Israeli occupation and a means of livelihood for farmers. We have embarked on this endeavor with a positive spirit among the administration, farmers, and the union. Despite the deteriorating economic situation, this agriculture brings money to the Lebanese treasury, and it is the farmer's right to have their rights met by being included in social security."
