The Dangers of Wearing Rubber Boots

Wearing rubber shoes and boots for an extended period can lead to unpleasant odors, skin irritation on the feet, and even infections and bone diseases. Dermatologist Dr. Svyatlana Petrovna stated in an interview with the newspaper "Izvestia": "As a rule, there is no air circulation in rubber shoes and boots. The interior of these shoes becomes damp because the feet sweat, and the heat creates a suitable environment for the growth of bacteria and fungi. Furthermore, rubber shoes do not always align with the natural arch of the foot. This uneven weight distribution and load on the legs can result in foot pain, arthritis, and other bone issues."

She advises those whose work requires them to wear rubber shoes to do the following:

- Wear warm (wool) socks in cold weather before going outside to prevent frozen feet.

- Choose rubber boots that fit properly so that the person does not feel pressure on their feet.

- Select rubber shoes with warm lining for good thermal insulation in low temperatures.

The doctor notes that rubber shoes in warm environments can be uncomfortable and lead to excessive sweating. Therefore, they should be aired out well after being removed, and socks should be replaced with clean ones.
