Lebanese Minister of Health Firas Al-Abyad confirmed the continuation of the agreement that was reached to secure 1 trillion Lebanese pounds monthly to cover medications for cancer and chronic diseases. Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with the Minister of Health this morning, Wednesday, at the Grand Serail to continue discussions on providing the necessary funds to cover medications for cancer and chronic diseases.

Al-Abyad stated, "Today, we reaffirmed that this issue will be a key agenda item for the upcoming first session of the Cabinet, thus securing the necessary funding to cover the required medications." The Minister of Public Health emphasized that this issue holds utmost importance for the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Public Health, showcasing the commitment of all parties involved to provide medications for patients. He said, "We are doing everything we can to alleviate the suffering of our sick people, and we are seeking quick funding solutions to ensure the availability of medications as well as establishing medium-term mechanisms so that a drug shortage crisis does not recur."

Minister Al-Abyad explained that he discussed with Prime Minister Mikati the initiatives proposed by international and civil associations aimed at cooperating to provide treatment in Lebanon for a number of injured Palestinian children in Gaza. Al-Abyad affirmed "solidarity with the Palestinian people who are subjected to unprecedented Israeli aggression that extends to our country, Lebanon, and also destroys and threatens our cities, towns, and villages." He stated, "Discussions will continue to determine the possible health and medical role that Lebanon can play within its capacities in solidarity with the Palestinian children."
