Economy and Trade Minister in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, received a delegation from the "Mills Syndicate" in his office at the ministry, where they discussed the national stock of wheat. Salam reassured that "there is no fear of a disruption in the vital wheat supply in the near future," urging "Lebanese people not to overly worry about wheat supplies due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and its implications for ships carrying grains in the Black Sea." He expressed his belief that "the crisis stemming from the decision to suspend the grain export agreement in the Black Sea will inevitably be resolved, as it will impact global food security, particularly with regard to price increases in both the short and long term." Salam recalled "the loan Lebanon obtained from the World Bank to support wheat, which has enabled the Ministry of Economy and Trade to ensure the continuous availability of this strategic commodity through a clear and transparent support mechanism that adheres to international standards and safeguards the rights of Lebanese people to their livelihood." He announced that "a ship carrying 28,000 tons of wheat will arrive at the Port of Beirut at the beginning of next week."
