This is Afraa: The Girl Orphaned by the Earthquake

"BBC Arabic" has reminded us of the girl who was born on February 6 under the rubble of her family's home in Syria due to the earthquake, during a visit to her aunt's house where she now resides. She was connected via the umbilical cord to her mother when she was found. The report indicates that Afraa has recovered from the bruises she suffered at the moment of her rescue. She has now completed her sixth month of life, filled with health and happiness, in the care of her aunt and uncle, along with their seven children in the village of Jandires, not far from the Turkish border. Khalid Al-Swadi, her aunt's husband, says that Afraa is "a very calm child, and she reminds me of her father and her sister Nawara, especially when she smiles. They all died in the earthquake." On the day of the earthquake in the Jandires area, Afraa's mother was in labor under the rubble of her home. She had already given birth to her daughter before rescuers found them.
