The statement published by the agency reported: "Seismic monitoring stations of the national seismic network detected an earthquake this morning at 6:52:29 in the middle of the Red Sea, with a seismic magnitude of 4.40 on the Richter scale and a depth of 32 kilometers." The agency added in its statement: "The cause of this earthquake is attributed to the fault located in the Red Sea, which represents the western boundary of the Arabian Plate and its divergence from the African Plate."
