America Reveals the Infection Rate of the Corona Variant "JN.1" Among Its Citizens

America Reveals the Infection Rate of the Corona Variant

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States reported that "its estimates indicate that infections with the new COVID-19 subvariant 'JN.1' account for between 39 percent and 50 percent of total cases in the United States as of December 23." The CDC stated on Friday that "the percentage of cases caused by the variant continues to rise and it has now become the most prevalent variant in the country." It continued that "this ongoing increase indicates that the variant may be more transmissible from person to person or more effective at evading the immune system compared to other circulating variants." They clarified that "it is too early to know whether 'JN.1' will lead to an increase in infection rates or hospitalizations and to what extent this increase may occur," adding that "current vaccines, tests, and treatments still work well against this variant." This marks an increase from 15 percent to 29 percent in the number of cases in the United States based on estimates from the CDC as of December 8.
