How the Kurdistan Workers' Party Intervened in the Iraqi Elections?

A member of the relations committee in the Kurdistan Workers' Party, Kawa Sheikh Mous, announced today, Sunday, that his party did not intervene in the provincial council elections that took place on the 18th of this month. Sheikh Mous explained that "the people of Sinjar know who stood by them, who sold them out, abandoned them, and traded their cause." He added that "the Yazidi component gave their votes to their representatives and rejected the trading that happens every time in the elections; however, the Kurdistan Democratic Party still controls the camps of displaced persons in the region, which house thousands of Yazidis." Sheikh Mous pointed out that the Kurdistan Workers' Party did not support any political party in Sinjar, but the parties present in the district are close to the citizens, represent their real demands, and defended them, contributing to the creation of security stability in the district. The city of Sinjar, where most residents belong to the Yazidi community, is experiencing escalating political and security tensions due to conflicts among various factions and political parties. This tension dates back to the period following the liberation of the city in 2017 from the control of ISIS elements, as the city finds itself at the center of political and security transformations that require special attention. The Independent High Electoral Commission announced the results of the local elections in Iraq last Tuesday evening, which took place on Monday.
