Dr. Mahmoud Mahna, a member of the Board of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar, spoke about the ruling on some women refusing to emerge from the ruins in Palestine because they are not wearing a hijab or are bare-headed without a covering. In statements to the Egyptian website "Cairo 24," the senior scholars’ member said that even if a woman is completely naked and trapped under the rubble without any clothes, she must exit and will bear no blame. Dr. Mahmoud Mahna cited the verse from God: "And do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction." He emphasized that a woman who remains trapped under the rubble due to the absence of a hijab is mistaken and does not understand Islam. He stated that if a woman chooses to remain until she dies, she would be guilty of taking her own life and would bear the sin.
