Exceptional Discovery in Ehden Reserve

Dr. Michel Fahim Suwan, President of the Lebanese Association for Migratory Birds, noted that he accidentally discovered a male Northern Wheatear in the Ehden Nature Reserve in Lebanon on July 1, 2023. He stated, "What started as a rare sighting turned into an astonishing discovery - a female Northern Wheatear guarding a nest in one of the cedar trees, even though the nest was empty, there was no doubt about signs of occupancy." He added, "On July 4, I found a Northern Wheatear chick nearby, marking the first documented record of this species breeding in Lebanon." Suwan considered that "this extraordinary discovery in the Ehden Nature Reserve is a joyous event amid sad occurrences."
