Minister of Environment Warns of Fire Hazard Today

The Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassin, alerted today about the fire risk. He wrote on the "X" platform: "Today, there is a significant increase in the fire hazard index, especially in the regions of Akkar, the Doniyah, Koura, Zgharta, northern Bekaa, western Bekaa, Rashaya, Bint Jbeil, and Hasbaya. The dry weather and low humidity levels contribute to conditions that increase the fire risk and the potential for rapid fire spread, as we witnessed yesterday in Al-Chouf, Doniyah, Akkar, Hasbaya, and other areas." He added: "Some of the essential steps and guidelines that citizens should consider to avoid fires include: 1. Do not ignite fires outdoors for any reason, including burning agricultural waste or dry grass. 2. Dispose of cigarettes, charcoal, or any other combustible materials responsibly, cleanly, and safely. 3. Immediately report any signs of smoke or fire to the Civil Defense and relevant authorities." Yassin concluded: "To know the fire risk in each town, one can refer to the fire lab report from Notre Dame University."
